Is your child interested in volunteering? Here’s what you need to know!
Our helpline works for youth in crisis because it works for our youth volunteers! Teens who volunteer on the YouthLine get extensive training and mentorship that prepares them to support their peers on the helpline, be positive examples in their communities, and care for themselves.
We put our youth volunteers first by creating a supportive, safe, and fun space where they can grow and be healthy, because that’s what they need to support our callers. All youth volunteers participate in a 3-hour orientation with a parent or guardian, and then receive 50 hours of training and shadowing. Masters-level trained supervisors work alongside volunteers to provide support and mentorship at every step of the way.
We are devoted to helping teens talk about and work through stress, conflict, mental-health struggles, and suicidal ideation. With so many teens committed to bettering the lives of other youths, it follows that they’re a great support system for each other.
